Rana K. Zabad, MD, FAAN is a board-certified neurologist with more than two decades of clinical experience in comprehensive neurology, with expertise in complex demyelinating, and neuroimmunologic disorders, and diagnosing neurological disorders.
Comprehensive Neurologic Expertise
Dr. Zabad has extensive experience evaluating patients with neurologic complaints across the full spectrum of disease, including inflammatory diseases of the central nervous system, headache, epilepsy, stroke, neuromuscular disorders and movement disorders. Her background includes years of general neurology practice in rural and resource-limited settings, requiring broad diagnostic acumen, independent clinical judgment, and careful differentiation between neurologic disease, mimics, and non-neurologic conditions.
Dr. Zabad is known for clear, thorough, and well-documented clinical assessments. She applies a structured, impartial approach grounded in careful record review and evidence-based clinical reasoning, with particular attention to diagnostic clarity, functional impact, and accepted neurologic standards of care.
She is a tenured Professor of Neurology and former Division Chief of the Multiple Sclerosis Program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center/Nebraska Medicine, where she built and led a high-volume, multidisciplinary clinical program serving a large and medically complex patient population. A defining feature of Dr. Zabad’s practice is expertise in complex diagnostic evaluation and
longitudinal assessment.
In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Zabad has served as principal investigator on numerous multicenter clinical trials and observational studies, providing deep familiarity with evidence standards, protocol adherence, outcome assessment, and unbiased data interpretation. She has participated on adjudication committees and appropriate-use working groups, further strengthening her ability to provide balanced, objective opinions grounded in medical evidence rather than advocacy.
